Who Is Betsy Price?

Betsy Price is an American politician and a businesswoman. As a politician, she is currently serving as the mayor of Fort Worth, Texas. She has been holding the position since 2021.

In addition, she previously served as Tarrant County tax assessor-collector for two and a half terms, from 2001 to 2011. Moreover, she is a Republican who describes herself as fiscally conservative, opposes division and extremism in both main parties, and pledges to work for the entire community as an elected local official.

After serving as a mayor for five terms she decided not to run for re-election as mayor. Instead, in June 2021 she confirmed she will run for County Judge of Tarrant County in the next election cycle.

Moreover, in Texas, the county judge is usually the chief executive of the county. However, he does not in any way perform judicial duties.

Compared to the mayor, the judge is chosen in a partisan election, therefore she must first gain a nomination in the Republican primary. Despite her being popular, Price faces opposition from conservative Republicans. Price will run against Tim O’Hare, the former Tarrant County Republican chairman, who was endorsed by Allen West, the recently departed Texas GOP chairman.

In addition, the general election for the Tarrant County Judge will be held on November 8th, 2022. Moreover, the primary will be held on March 1st, 2022.
