OJ Simpson Cases

According to A Rush to Judgement? written by Jurors Cooley, Bess, and Rubin-Jackson. It claims that Barry was the most persuasive lawyer during the trial. However, defense witnesses together with Vincent Bugliosi, Darnel M. Hunt, Daniel M. Petrocelli, claimed that Barry made factually false claims about the physical evidence.

Furthermore, in a legal complaint filed on October 5, 2007, Barry represented wrongly accused Duke University lacrosse player Reade Seligmann. The city of Durham, North Carolina, and its former district attorney, Mike Nifong, sued him.

Scheck said that since the swatches were collected and put in plastic bags instead of paper bags as indicated. And that stored in a police vehicle without being refrigerated for up to seven hours, 100% of the DNA from the evidence samples was lost due to bacterial decomposition. Furthermore, he stated that the DNA from Simpson, Nicole Brown, and Ron Goldman’s reference vial was then moved to all but three evidence items, contaminating the samples. The last three exhibits were placed by cops and so forged.

Barry contradicted himself when he stated that it was difficult to identify blood from reference vials from blood from the body while having shown it the week before using EDTA. Furthermore, Scheck contended that all of the contamination was caused by random negligence in the lab. However, The only three genuine matches were the same three the defense alleged were planted. The rest 58 matches were all false positives, despite the fact that this had never happened before.

The substrate controls used to test if contamination happened, as he suggested, were all false negatives. As a result of this Barry cited that the contamination only got on the evidence items, despite the fact that they and the substrate controls were all handled interchangeably at the same time. Dr. Brad Popovich, a clinical molecular geneticist, termed Schecks’ statements “crazy.”

Petrocelli discusses how he invalidated all of Barry’s blood planting accusations in Triumph of Justice: Closing the Book on the O.J. Simpson Saga. When Scheck went to Simpson’s house later that evening to bring his blood reference vial to Dennis Fung, he hinted that Vannatter may have placed Simpson’s blood at the murder scene, although the crime scene is really at Nicole Brown’s home.

Furthermore, Barry also indicated that another police officer “sprinkled Simpson’s blood at the crime scene,”. However, the prosecution established that the blood was photographed being there prior to Simpson’s blood being extracted by the nurse. He went ahead to claim that the Bronco had been tainted with the victim’s blood, although the vehicle had been impounded prior to his arrival and was not even present.
