Who is Arthel Neville?

Arthel Neville is an American television personality, journalist, and Fox News Channel’s weekend anchor working alongside Eric Shawn in Manhattan. 

She was raised in New Orleans Louisiana where after graduating she traveled to New York to pursue modeling and acting. She got a job working in commercials as well as a small role in all my children which is a soap opera before going back to New Orleans.

Arthel Neville’s Career

Neville started a career at KVUE-TV as a general assignment reporter while still a junior at the University of Texas at Austin School of journalism which is now known as Moody College of communication. She became the first female African-American on-air TV reporter at KVUE. She majorly covered stories in The Streets of Austin especially breaking news, education politics health, and human interest stories. Her first job after graduating was as a news anchor in New Orleans in WWL. Neville later moved back to Texas in 1988 for our one-year job as a reporter forKHOU-TV in Houston. She later Returned as an anchor for WVUE in New Orleans.

She hosted over 200 interviews during the three years she worked at the program with Hollywood stars ranging from Tom Cruise, Will Smith, and Sharon Stone to music icons such as Whitney Houston, David Bowie, and Sade. This made her the Nation’s first high-profile black female entertainment reporter. She also covered a number of live entertainment events for E! In 1994, she surpassed over 1000 hopefuls to launch and Anchor Warner Brothers Studios Extra making her the first African-American woman to host a nationally syndicated entertainment news magazine program. Until 1996, Neville remained with extra until the program was revamped. Later in 1997, she partnered with Fred login who is an early sportscaster to host the Arthel & friend show which is a syndicated daytime entertainment news program that ran for only one season. One year later, she left Los Angeles and move to New York when she became a senior correspondent on Fox files which is fox network’s syndicated News magazine.

The 2000s

In 2002 Neville joined CNN to become the host of Talkback Live with Arthel Neville, becoming the first African-American woman to host her own signature show on the news network. The hybrid format show presented news of the day and featured live interaction with audience members and guests, in-studio, via satellite, phone, and internet. While at CNN, she also anchored morning and daytime news and co-anchored weekend news with Anderson Cooper from CNN’s Atlanta and New York City bureaus.

In 2003 Neville earned recognition from the University of Texas at Austin for her outstanding contribution to broadcast journalism. She received the Texas Exes’ Outstanding Young Texas Ex Award, which is bestowed upon four University of Texas alumnae under the age of 45 who have reached a level of excellence in their respective fields.

Later, Neville co-hosted Fox’s nationally syndicated morning show Good Day Live with Steve Edwards and Debbie Matenopoulos, hosted Celebrity Hobbies on the DIY Network, and served as a correspondent for the 2005 revival of the syndicated news magazine A Current Affair. On that show, she garnered much acclaim for her coverage of Hurricane Katrina in her hometown of New Orleans. In March 2006, she joined the Fox News–produced syndicated news magazine Geraldo at Large as the West Coast bureau chief and correspondent.

She also served as a guest co-host on The View in the fall of 2006.  Neville also became the lead anchor on 1st August 2008 for the Fox 5 Morning News which is a half-hour weekday Newscast aired on KSWB-TV based in San Diego. She made a huge impact with the Narnia on the San Diego community which was evidenced by her nomination for San Diego magazine’s 2009 Woman of the Year award.


In June 2010, she went back to Fox News Channel to serve as a news anchor on America’s Newsroom, America’s news headquarters, a contributor on the O’Reilly Factor happening now, and red-eye w Greg Gutfeld.
