High school career
Anthony played for Eastside High School in Gainesville, Florida. In his high school career, he had 4,633 passing yards with 37 passing touchdowns, 1,633 rushing yards, and 41 touchdowns. Richardson then committed to play college football at the University of Florida.
College career
He appeared in only 4 games during his first year at Florida in 2020, finishing one of two passes for 27 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Richardson was able to redshirt his first year of collegiate eligibility. He joined in 2021 as the backup to Emory Jones but still earned more playing time. Richardson replaced Jones and finished 10 of 19 passes for 167 yards with 3 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a rushing touchdown over LSU. He also assisted lead an upset against the 7th-ranked Utah Utes in September 2022. After the end of the 2022 season, he revealed that he would join the 2023 NFL Draft.
