He is well-known for working alongside Declan Donnelly as part of the presenting duo Ant & Dec. Ant became into recognition alongside Declan in the children’s drama series Byker Grove with both of them establishing successful careers as television presenters.

His first appearance on television was on the children’s workshop program Why Don’t You?. However, his breakthrough came when he rose to prominence in the CBBC series Byker Grove playing the character of PJ. It was during the series he first met Declan Donnelly who also was cast in the part of Duncan. Because of this reason, they formed a close friendship during the program both socially and professionally. They performed their roles until their departure from the program in 1993.
Besides acting, they also created a number of hit records under the label of “PJ & Duncan AKA”, including the song “Tonight I’m Free” that had been performed on Byker Grove.
