Who is Andrew Wiggins?

 Andrew Wiggins is a Canadian professional basketball player. He played for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Wiggins was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft after one year with the Kansas Jayhawks.


Andrew played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks before he was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He became the second Canadian to be selected No.1 overall in the NBA. While playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves he received NBA Rookie of the Year honors for the 2014–15 season.
Wiggins was traded to Golden in February 2020 after spending his first five and a half seasons with Minnesota. He is a member of the Canadian national team. After Andrew was named a Western Conference starter, he was selected for his first NBA All-Star game in 2022.

He started his professional career after he was declared for the 2014 NBA draft on March 31, 2014. On June 26, 2014, Andrew was selected first overall in the draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He became the second Canadian to be selected number one after Anthony Bennett. Bennet was selected No.1 overall in the 2013 NBA draft by Cleveland. A three-team trade was completed involving the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Philadelphia 76ers on August 23. As a result of Andrew, Bennett was traded to the Wolves. Thaddeus Young of the Sixers. The Cavaliers received Kelvin Love while the Sixers received Luc Mbah a Moute from Minnesota. Andrew remained the second player since
ABA–NBA merger to be selected as the number one overall. He was later traded without playing any game for the team. Chris Webber was the first following the 1993 draft.

In his NBA debut on October 29, 2014, Andrew scored six points in a 105-101 drafting the Memphis Grizzlies. He received the Western Conference Rookie of the Month honors for the first two months of the season. On January, 31 he defeated the Cavaliers scoring 33 points. He won the Rising Stars Challenge after he scored 22 points for Team World in a 121–112 win over Team USA on February 13. Andrew was named the NBA Rookie of the Year for the 2014–15 season on April 30.

After five days Andrew set a new career-high with 47 points in a 125-99 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Wiggins became the first Canadian player to score 40-plus points in an NBA game. He scored 40 points in a 116-108 defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 14.

On February 14 Andrew scored 40 points in a 112-99 win over the Denver Nuggets. He became the second player the second Minnesota player to record back-to-back 40-point. On February 24, he scored 27 points in a 97–84 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Andrew tried to break a record by topping 20 points for the 16th straight game.

On October 11, 2017, Andrew signed a five-year, $148 million contract extension with the Timberwolves. On October 22, he scored 27 points and hit the winning match. Andrew scored 22 of his season-high 29 points in the first half of the Timberwolves’ 115-109 drafting of the Toronto Raptors.
