Amanda Plasencia is an American Emmy-award-winning reporter for WTVJ-TV Miami, FL (NBC 6). She is very proud to cover news from her native Miami.
Plasencia attended New York University from where she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Journalism, a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, and a minor in Communications.
She has worked as a reporter for News 12 Brooklyn/The Bronx and WCBS 880 Radio. Plasencia also interned at NBC 4 New York, NY1 Noticias, and CBS Channel One.
She is fluent in English and Spanish and is learning Chinese and Italian! When not reporting, she enjoys singing, dancing, biking, fishing, sports, cooking, and photography. Plasencia is a proud member of the National Association for Hispanic Journalists.

Plasencia traveled to Cuba to report on her family heritage, visited Detroit to report on crime, and also covered immigration issues at the Arizona-Mexican border.
