Who is Amanda Holden?

Amanda Holden is an English actress and media personality. She has served as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent on ITV since 2007. Also, in 2004, Holden played main the role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, a musical stage show which earned her a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award. Holden also played the role of Sarah Trevanion in the Wild at Heart dram series between 2006 and 2008.

Holden also acted in other shows including The Grimleys, Kiss Me, Kate, Cutting It, and Big Top. In addition, she has also presented a number of television shows including The Sun Military Awards, Superstar, This Morning, Give a Pet a Home, and Text Santa. Holden made her first television appearance in 1991 where she was a contestant on the Blind Date game show. She also made an appearance as Sarah Trevanian from 2008 to 2008 in the three series of Wild at Heart on ITV while co-starring Stephen Tompkinson. Holden’s other TV involvements include Kiss Me Kate with Chris Langham and Caroline Quentin, three series of The Grimleys on ITV, Hearts, and Bones on BBC with Damian Lewis as well as a Jonathan Creek episode titled The Problem at Gallows Gate. Holden also co-starred with Tom Courtenay and Billy Nighy in Jack Rosenthal‘s comedy-drama, Ready When You Are, Mr. McGill.

Holden joined Britain’s Got Talent as a judge along with David Williams, Simon Cowell, and Alesha Dixon. Holden also made appearances on British series such as EastEnders, Smack the Pony, Hearts and Bones, comedy series Celeb alongside Harry Enfield and Cutting Eat. In 2009, she appeared in the Ring Mistress as Lizzie in the BBC sitcom named Big Top. In fact, in April 2009, a report stated that CBS which was a US network had offered Holden a job as the one-time guest presenter of The Early Show. Later, on June 1, 2009, Holden appeared alongside regular presenters Maggie Rodriguez and Harry Smith. Since then, she has signed with CBS as a British correspondent.

In fact, in 2004, she received a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Musical due to her performance in the West End productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie. However, the show closed in June 2004 which was earlier than expected. In the original West End production of Shrek the Musical that started on May 6, 2011, Holden played the role of Princess Fiona. She however left the show on October 3, 2011, to focus on her unborn child. Her role was replaced by Kimberley Walsh who was the singer of Girls Aloud. Holden won the WhatsOnStage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Princess Fiona.
