Alex Karp is an American billionaire businessman from Palo Alto, California, US. He is co-founder and CEO of secretive Silicon Valley data miner Palantir Technologies, a software firm.
He oversees the data-mining startup that received early backing from CIA investment arm In-Q-Tel. Being in a field dominated by MIT computer scientists and Harvard MBAs, Karp actually doesn’t hail from either discipline.
He managed money before starting Palantir in 2004. He also occasionally teaches meditation classes at the company.
Karp is a board member at Axel Springer since April 2018, in Basf since May 2019 and at the Economist Newspaper Ltd since February 2016.
